Merang Jetty, first light
Merang Jetty is the coastal departure point most travellers use for boats to Redang Island. Villa Wanie Inn sits close by in Merang, Setiu, which is why most guests here are either heading out to the island the next morning or coming back off the water.

Planning your boat day
Island boats generally leave in the morning, so an overnight stay near the jetty removes a long pre-dawn drive. Confirm departure times directly with your boat or resort operator, since schedules change with the season and the weather. The 24-hour front desk means you can arrive late the night before and still start early.
Free private parking on site is useful if you plan to leave the car behind while you are on the island.
Around Merang & Setiu
Merang is a quiet fishing and jetty village on the Setiu coast. Local eateries and small shops nearby serve simple Terengganu food, and boat and tour operators in the area handle island transfers and day trips. Snorkelling and diving are offered off site through independent operators, at an additional charge.
Setiu is roughly an hour north of Kuala Terengganu by road, a reasonable overnight stop for anyone driving up the east coast.
